Thomas B. Harper, 69 who died suddenly in the yard of his home, 1004 E. Elmore, Tuesday at 11:40 a.m. while cutting grass was believed to be a possible victim of the extreme heat. A weakened condition due to a paralytic stroke 3 years ago was also given as a possible cause for the death, which occurred suddenly as his wife, Mrs. Ellen harper was starting into the house, shortly before noon. No indication of illness was given until Mr. Harper called to his wife as she stepped into the house. When she reached his side he was dead. The deceased was seemingly in the best of health Tuesday morning and was cutting grass in the front yard with a small hand scythe when the attack came. Whether death was due a heart or another paralytic stroke was not determined Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Harper resided in this city during the past 28 years. The deceased was born in Clayton County, Tenn, aug 27, 1859. He is survived by his widow, 3 sisters, Ms. Myers, Kokomo; Mrs. Jane Kirby, Portland, Ore and Mrs. Nancy Rolls of Virginia and a stepson Howard Harper. - typed by kbz
